© Phalaris Project 2013-2017 - Last updated July 8, 2017 The Notables project details basic records of notable North American racehorses, as well as their sire lines so that they may be inspected both by name and relation. An incidental side effect is the interesting view of the descent and relation of sire lines, both living and defunct. At present, I have specified 47 categories by which a horse may become "notable;" A Triangle/DRF champion (1936-1970), a TRA champion (1950-1970) or an Eclipse champion (1971-present); A winner of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness or Belmont; A winner of a Breeders' Cup event; Leading sire, broodmare sire or juvenile sire; Member of the Hall of Fame; A major money winner. ("Major money winner" minimums vary, based upon earnings of the time.) All "notable" accomplishments by any horses included in this list can be viewed by looking up the horse, along with a basic race record (where available). Note that the year associated with the "Hall of Fame" accomplishment is the year in which the horse was elected to the Hall of Fame and the year associated with the "Major money winner" accomplishment is the horse's year of birth, since the minimal earnings for inclusion in this category is based upon a horse's birthyear. Notable Trees Arrangement of notable horses by sire line, with javascript powered graphs. The Trees are accessible via the menu. (NOTE: Work is ongoing to update the Notable Trees to work with the new website.) Notable List Lists of notable horses, with their accomplishments, in alphabetical order. Made with MAGIX
